It remains a source of constant astonishment to me that a few marks scribbled on a blackboard or a sheet of paper can change the course of human affairs.
Stanisław UlamHello, I’m
Kacper Liżewski
AI Engineer working at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence,
Research & Development, and healthcare technology.
My background spans medical software engineering,
hospital information systems (HIS), academic research, and teaching.

More than job titles.
A way of thinking.
I connect hands-on engineering with scientific thinking and a commitment to learning — with healthcare as a recurring theme throughout my career.
My career has moved from developing hospital information systems (HIS), through academic teaching and research, to engineering AI solutions. Each stage has broadened the way I approach technical problems: from understanding workflows and users, to asking research questions and building practical systems.
I value education, careful reasoning and continuous development. I enjoy working where software engineering meets data and research, and where technical decisions need to reflect real operational requirements and the standards of the industry.
Healthcare remains an important part of my professional perspective. I’m interested in using modern AI responsibly to support people and improve the tools they rely on. I want to do more than implement someone else’s instructions: I want to identify meaningful problems, bring forward original ideas, and help shape the direction of the technology we build.
Grounded engineering
Technology should solve real problems and fit the needs of the people who use it.
Education & research
Teaching and research strengthen my ability to explain, question and evaluate ideas.
Continuous growth
I keep developing my skills and move toward new challenges at the intersection of software, data and AI.
Places that
shaped my journey.
A progression from production software in healthcare, through academic research and teaching, to AI engineering and R&D.
AI Engineer
Applying Artificial Intelligence in a healthcare technology environment, building on experience in production software and the medical domain. My interests include practical AI engineering, research-informed development, and translating real-world healthcare needs into useful technical solutions.
Graduate Research And Teaching Assistant
Working across academic teaching and research in computer science: explaining technical concepts, evaluating methods critically, and exploring questions systematically. This experience complements industry practice and strengthens my research-oriented approach to software engineering, data analysis, and continuous learning.
Java Software Engineer
Developed Java software in the healthcare domain, gaining practical experience with medical software and hospital information systems (HIS). This work built my understanding of production software engineering, complex clinical workflows, reliability, and the needs of healthcare professionals and medical institutions.
Work that
makes an impact.
Projects spanning digital healthcare, hospital information systems and open-source statistical tooling — different domains connected by practical problem-solving.
MARE eHealth
01MARE eHealth is a digital healthcare initiative where technology and medical-domain expertise meet. I am involved through CompuGroup Medical (CGM), an official project partner, connecting my work in healthcare technology with a wider collaborative project.
CGM CLININET HIS
02CGM CLININET is a hospital information system (HIS) supporting clinical and administrative processes. Working in this domain has shaped my understanding of the complexity, reliability and user needs involved in medical software.
scikit-posthocs
03Co-author of scikit-posthocs, an open-source Python library for post-hoc pairwise multiple-comparison tests. The project connects statistical methods, scientific computing, Python development, and practical statistical data analysis.
Research with
real-world relevance.
Scientific work at the intersection of computer science, machine learning, and medical image analysis.
Comparative analysis of methods for identifying tree structures of coronary vessels
This paper compares machine learning models and a filter-based method for semantic segmentation of coronary vessels in coronary angiographic images. The study evaluates multiple approaches to medical image segmentation and reports FR-UNet as the best-performing model among those tested, with an accuracy of 97.7%.
Let’s talk about what we can create together.
I’m interested in conversations about Artificial Intelligence, Research & Development (R&D), healthcare technology, HealthTech, and engineering challenges where original ideas and thoughtful software can make a difference.
